What are the treatment methods for non-gonococcal urethritis? After diagnosis of non-gonococcal urethritis, broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy is adopted, emphasizing the need for continuous, uninterrupted medication, and the treatment must be regular, quantitative, and thorough. After 10-20 days of treatment, re-examinations should all show negative results, and clinical symptoms should disappear for the condition to be considered cured. The required course of treatment for this disease is relatively long.
(I) Western Medicine Treatment
1. Currently, many strains have developed resistance to tetracycline, doxycycline, and erythromycin. The new generation of synthetic antibacterial drugs, fluoroquinolones, are not only effective against Chlamydia and Mycoplasma but also highly sensitive to Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
(1) Norfloxacin 200mg, 3 times a day for 14 days.
(2) Ofloxacin 200mg, 2 times a day for 14 days.
(3) Ciprofloxacin 250mg, 2 times a day for 14 days.
2. Sulfonamides and rifampin are effective against Chlamydia but ineffective against Mycoplasma.
3. Gentamicin, neomycin, and polymyxin are ineffective against Chlamydia.
4. Streptomycin and spectinomycin are ineffective against Chlamydia but effective against Mycoplasma.
5. Tetracycline 0.5g, 4 times a day for 7 days, then 0.25g, 4 times a day for 14 days.
6. Doxycycline 0.1g, 2 times a day for 7 days.
7. Erythromycin stearate 0.5g, 4 times a day for 7 days.
8. Erythromycin ethylsuccinate 0.8g, 4 times a day for 7 days.
9. Minocycline 0.2g, 0.1g, 2 times a day for 14 days.
(II) Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment:
1. Bladder Damp-Heat Type:
Ingredients: Sheng Di Huang, Mu Tong, Hua Shi, Gan Cao, Bi Xie, Huang Bai, Ze Xie, Zhi Zi, Lu Lu Tong.
Main Symptoms: Red tongue with thin yellow coating, slippery pulse, short and red urine with a stinging sensation, difficulty urinating, redness at the urethral opening, burning sensation, stabbing pain, itching, frequent urination, urgency, pain, discomfort in the perineum, anus, and lower abdomen.
Note: For severe pain, add "Shi Wei, Pu Gong Ying, Zi Hua Di Ding"; for lower abdominal pain, add "Chuan Lian Zi, Wu Yao, Bai Shao".
2. Bladder Qi Stagnation Type:
Ingredients: Qu Mai, Huang Lian, Da Huang, Mu Tong, Jie Geng, Yuan Hu, Qian Niu Zi, Zhi Ke, Qiang Huo, She Gan, Fu Pi, Dang Gui, Rou Gui.
Main Symptoms: Thin white tongue coating, deep and stringy pulse, painful urination, difficulty urination, dribbling, perineal fullness, lower abdominal discomfort, intermittent pain in the epididymis and prostate area.
Note: For severe lower abdominal pain, add "Wu Yao, Jie Geng, Chuan Lian Zi"; for back pain, add "Niu Xi, Chuan Duan, Gou Ji".
3. Bladder Cold-Damp Type:
Ingredients: Shan Yao, Xiao Hui Xiang, Dang Gui, Bai Shao, Jiao Hua, Zhu Ling, Ze Xie, Bai Zhu, Fu Ling, Gui Zhi.
Main Symptoms: Thin white tongue coating, deep and slow pulse, weak constitution, fear of cold, frequent urination, back pain, difficulty urination, dribbling, urinary pain, urgency, and frequency are not obvious, perineal fullness, lower abdominal discomfort.
Note: For poor appetite with chest tightness and nausea, add "Cang Zhu, Chen Pi, Ban Xia".
4. Spleen and Kidney Qi Deficiency Type:
Ingredients: Dang Shen, Huang Qi, Bai Zhu, Gan Cao, Dang Gui, Chai Hu, Sheng Ma, Chen Pi, Ze Xie, Che Qian Zi, Bi Xie, Wu Yao, Shi Chang Pu, Yi Zhi Ren.
Main Symptoms: Swollen tongue body, light white and greasy coating, weak and slow pulse, discomfort and pain in the epididymis and prostate, prolonged turbid urine, dripping, lingering leukorrhea, slight pain, increased perineal fullness, aggravated lower abdominal pain, back and leg soreness, weak limbs.
5. Kidney Yin Deficiency Type:
Ingredients: E Jiao, Hua Shi, Sheng Di Huang, Tu Fu Ling, Zao Xiu, Yin Hua, Zi Hua Di Ding, Huang Bai, Zhi Mu, Zhu Ling, Rou Gui.
Main Symptoms: Cracked tongue body, red tongue tip, little or peeled coating, thin and rapid pulse. Red and swollen urethral opening, painful and itchy urination that varies in severity, increased perineal fullness, thickened vas deferens, chronic prostatitis and epididymitis, back and leg soreness, lower abdominal fullness, weight loss, heat in hands, feet, and heart, dry mouth, weak urination, frequent urination, dry stool.
Note: For severe pain, add "Chi Shao, Yuan Hu, Jie Geng, Chuan Lian Zi"; for thickened vas deferens, add "Hai Fu Shi, Qian Cao"; for testicular nodules, add "Jie He, Xia Ku Cao, Yuan Shen, Ze Lan, Hong Hua".
6. Qi and Blood Deficiency Type:
Ingredients: Dang Shen, Huang Qi, Lian Rou, Tian Dong, Mai Dong, Sheng Di Huang, Shu Di Huang, Huai Niu Xi, Di Gu Pi, Fu Ling, Che Qian Zi, Zhi Gan Cao.
Main Symptoms: Swollen tongue body with little moisture, thin coating, thin soft and weak pulse, frequent urination, dribbling, vulvar burning and itching, thick leukorrhea with strong odor, lower abdominal fullness, back soreness, dull complexion, restlessness, fatigue, sore limbs, constipation or diarrhea, and worsening local symptoms.
