The quality of sperm directly determines a man's fertility. Only the combination of high-quality sperm and eggs can lead to the birth of a healthy and adorable baby. However, as men age and face excessive mental stress, the quantity of sperm decreases, potentially even diminishing the most basic fertility capabilities.
Why is the sperm count in men decreasing?
1、Heavy smoking and drinking
Many men resort to smoking and drinking to relieve stress. Smoking affects cardiopulmonary function, increases the risk of lung cancer, and also impacts the reproductive system. Carbon monoxide and tar in cigarettes inhibit the secretion of male hormones. Nicotine can kill sperm, and prolonged smoking inevitably affects sperm production, reducing both the quantity and quality of sperm. Additionally, chronic alcohol consumption can lead to chronic alcoholism, causing testicular atrophy, impairing sperm production, damaging sperm, and reducing sperm quality and vitality, or causing abnormalities in the male reproductive system. It is essential to quit smoking and drinking, with men advised not to consume more than 20 grams of alcohol per day.
2、Nutritional deficiencies
Many men are so busy with work that they have irregular meals or overeat, leading to nutritional imbalances that affect sperm production. Especially when the body lacks trace elements such as zinc, selenium, and arginine, sperm quality decreases, pituitary secretion of gonadotropins is disrupted, sexual function declines, and sperm count reduces. Men should ensure a balanced intake of nutrients, avoid spicy and irritating foods, and consume more seafood, lean meats, and eggs.
3、Inharmonious sexual life
Either too frequent or overly abstinent sexual activity can lead to a decrease in sperm count. It is important to maintain a scientifically regular sexual life. Additionally, excessive mental stress in men can disrupt endocrine levels, affect testicular spermatogenic function, and reduce sperm count and quality. It is crucial to learn to release stress, adjust negative emotions, and alleviate inner discomfort through travel or exercise.
4、Prolonged exposure to high temperatures
The testicles have high temperature requirements. Prolonged hot spring bathing, sauna use, or wearing tight pants can increase local temperature, affect spermatogenic cell production, and weaken sperm quality. It is advisable to choose loose pants, avoid prolonged sitting, stand up and move around for at least 10 minutes every hour, reduce the frequency of hot spring bathing, and keep the local area dry.
Friendly reminder
When men suffer from prostatitis, varicocele, or other conditions, sperm count can also decrease. Long-term use of sedatives or anti-tumor drugs, and frequent exposure to radioactive rays can reduce sperm count. Patients must actively treat the primary disease.
