Essential oil spa refers to the method of using essential oil spa oil (a blend of carrier oil and essential oil) applied to specific areas for massage. Through massage, we can help the body relax and relieve stress.
Massage Techniques:
1. Effleurage: This is one of the most effective techniques in essential oil massage. It involves a series of gentle, gliding strokes that allow the essential oil to penetrate the skin, promoting relaxation and calmness. Use the entire palm, not just the fingers. Keep your hands relaxed, and adjust the pressure from firm to soft. This helps relax muscles, improve circulation, and reduce tension and stress.
2. Petrissage: This technique is like kneading dough. The thumbs can apply slight pressure, but the movements should be slow and controlled. This technique is particularly helpful for areas with thicker fat layers and the back. It helps relax muscles, promote blood and tissue fluid flow, and assist in toxin elimination.
3. Combination of Techniques: Apply the above two basic techniques to different parts of the body. Always massage towards the heart. For children and the elderly, use gentle effleurage strokes.
